What is therapeutic conversation?
What are the three areas of inquiry that nurses should explore with families?
What are circular questions and how are they useful?
A common concern of nurses is that talking with families will take too much time, or that they do not have the skills to be therapeutic with families. This half-day (3 hour) interactive workshop will explore the barriers to nurse-family interaction and ways to make therapeutic conversation a part of routine care. Skills of therapeutic conversation, including circular questions and commendations, will be practiced. Nurses will gain knowledge and skill in family intervention that can be used in any health care setting.
